As I’ve neglected this blog the past few months I have also neglected letting all you lovely supporters know how marathon training is going!!!
Well I have some exciting news to share with you…. NEXT WEEK IS MY MARATHON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a little over 7 exact days from now I will be crossing the finish line of my first ever marathon. That is a crazy crazy thought in my opinion. I can’t believe I’m to the point in my strength that I can be running a marathon.
An update on my health: I’m feeling good, not sick at all (pray that stays the case for the next week!), my ankle was rolled last Thursday and I’m still babying it a little, icing, elevating, and compressing on the daily, it feels great when I run it just swells up afterwards so I’m banking on being a little puffy next Sunday, but that is okay!
I had two races the past two weekends! I was supposed to run the Rock and Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon but due to the injured ankle I only ran 5 miles last Saturday (3.1 on the race track which was so much fun!)
Today I ran the Penn Homecoming 5k! I had logged in some miles beforehand and ran it with some amazing friends from my Christian group, Penn Cru. I’m so proud of the awesome job they all did!
I’m getting a little nervous for next weekend BUT I know that through Christ I can do all things! Is it ironic that the marathon distance is 26.2??? I think not.
Now for another crazy thing… I’m off to my SENIOR YEAR HOMECOMING!!! Thank you Penn for the gifts you have given me the past three years. And thank you God for the sunrise this morning.
I’ve been praying for you to have a successful marathon. I can’t wait to hear about it!!! Good luck, Melanie!
One week from today! Stay strong & well & keep that ankle from getting injured again.
