Last First Day Through the Eyes of a Runner.

To think that this may very well be my last first day of classes in my life is mind boggling. From the beginning of when I could remember I have been learning and in class. Whether that be in the school room at home when I used to be homeschooled, or the classroom in elementary or middle school, or the campus at high school, or this wonderful university I currently attend, I have always been in class. To think that this time next year I will not be returning is crazy.

This time next year, I will be an Ivy League graduate and won’t worry about buying my textbooks, or constructing the perfect class schedule.

As I sit here eating my bowl of blackberries after my early morning workout with a friend and a shower, I am just baffled that this may be it.

I always thought by this point in my life I’d feel differently. I’d be smart, mature, and ready to tackle the world. Well, I am smarter than I used to be, more mature than I used to be, and more ready to tackle the world, but not completely.

I may be a senior in college but I have a long way to go to be a senior in life.

This past week has been a whirlwind of moving, retreats, welcoming freshmen, events, and planning. My prayer for today, tomorrow, and this year is that I don’t get caught up in all those things but instead live here, in the moment, in the now.

I wish I had more to say right now, but that is it. Today I plan on doing nothing but living. No planning or worry. In a half hour I have class, then advising hours, then a run or coffee with a friend, and then happy hour before a hall meeting and prayer. My resolution for today is to stay in the moment. Happy Wednesday Y’all!
