After a summer of running on flat even surfaces I got to thinking about how great it would be to do a lot of hill training while I’m in Virginia. Marathon Melanie would be really happy and much faster if I did all this hill training.
Well it is a great thought, my ankles don’t think it was awesome as I wanted it to be…
BUT my heart is extremely happy with my short hill runs and intense trail runs this week.
Monday was full of driving and no run. Tuesday had 2 miles of sprint hills for me to crank out with abs after. Wednesday was a 4.7 mile run on trails and hills in the park. Thursday was a 3 mile hike trail run with an elevation increase of 2500 feet. Friday was a walk with my mommy and a 2 mile tempo run at 7:40 splits.
Definitely my lowest mileage week in a while but still awesome! My ankles didn’t like the downhill of the hike run as much as my other runs, but feeling the pounding of my chest and burning in my legs was well worth the soreness the past couple days! My running buddy (and doggie) Charlie couldn’t even keep up for a lot of the runs this week!
