Running in New Zealand!

Fox Glacier, New Zealand

For anyone who is not a runner but lives in New Zealand, you are crazy!

Last night post lamb shank dinner I geared up for a chilly sunset run.
On went leggings, long sleeves, and my trusty Brooks.
Venturing to the bar to return my key to my roommates the bar tender told me about a lovely bush trek to the river. So there I went!
As my feet hit the graveled path and my eyes began taking in everything, life just seemed perfect. No worries.
This trek went on for 5km before up ahead I see it.
The opening in the pathway, the swinging bridge, and the majestic mountains standing in the last light of day.
I was overcome by the beauty and this world that I couldn’t stop the tear from rolling down my cheek.
Go Fast Enough to Get There
Queenstown, New Zealand

Everytime my feet hit the trails, the pavement, and the rocks in Queenstown my heart soared and my eyes took it all in. Such beauty! You actually need to be careful running around Queenstown because all you want to do is look around that you trip often. I am speaking from a LOT of experience!
These are only two marvelous places to run and only two of the 5 places I ran in the South Island of New Zealand. I can’t wait to go back and try out the fun of the North Island!

But Seriously WOW!…
“My breath feels fuller here, in the fresh air, in the cool, in the isolated purity that is New Zealand.
The sights are marvelous, the people wonderful, and the runs, oh so perfect.”
I repeat, if you live in New Zealand but are not a runner, you are missing out. There is so much to see, so much to explore, and two legs and a pair of runners can take you anywhere!

The Southern Island should be called nothing more than the Stunning Island.

  1. With a view like that, I would find it impossible to be indoors – so yes, I won’t be surprised if I’m out running. You are so lucky to have that every single day.

  2. I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand, it always looks breath-taking in pictures and yours are no exception. I’m not a runner but I think I’d give it a go if I saw beautiful views like that on my runs 🙂

  3. The funny thing is, I love New Zealand and I love running too. New Zealand is my next target place to visit. I miss running, since when was the last time I run? But if the view is as breathtaking like this, I don;t think I can get to the finish line in due time.

  4. I’m not from NZ, but first I would go on a 1 week hicking tour, I’m so much in love with mountains. But after that I’d absolutely try to explore every little inch by running and cycling.
