You may be thinking: what type of title is that? Especially since the last hurricane reported in the United States was in September.
Well today has seemed like a day of complete deja vu of the day the University of Pennsylvania had off last year in mid October for Hurricane Sandy.
There has been nothing I’ve done today that didn’t happen or had a equivalent of last year during the first hurricane day we had off.
October 22, 2012: I woke up really late with no alarm, because we have a day off classes and who needs to be up early?! After waking up, I decided to make some brown sugar maple oatmeal. Then my roommate and I took it upon ourselves to do our fall cleaning. So we scrubbed, vacuumed, and sang loudly and badly to chill music. Doing all my laundry came next. Then we decorated our room for fall and halloween! Afterwards, I read a little bit and then bundled up in my red polka dotted raincoat and forged through the rain to study. After studying I grabbed dinner and went home for a relaxing night.
October 11, 2013: I started the day off really late with no alarm, because it’s fall break and who needs to be up early?! So after waking up at 10:30, I decided to bake cinnamon rolls and baked oatmeal inside of apples. Then I took it upon myself to do fall cleaning. I scrubbed, swept, and sang loudly and badly to chill music. Doing all my laundry came next. Then decorating my room for fall and halloween happened! Afterwards, I read a little bit and then bundled up in my red polka dotted raincoat and forged through the rain to go run 9 miles at the gym. After running I came back to shower, scrub the floors and skype with my mommy. While skyping I grabbed dinner and now am home for a relaxing night.
One thing I forgot to mention: It’s been really rainy both days! But you probably gathered that by some of my context clues 🙂 Anywho that is why this post is titled “Hurricane Days” because I will now fondly refer to this second day of my fall break as Hurricane Day 2.0.
But fall break= fun, relaxation, and awesomeness!
Yesterday I made the trek to NYC with some friends without a plan. And what I’m realizing in college is living without a plan can bring some of the best things into being. We saw a lot of New York City, we saw Jimmy Fallon perform, we laughed a lot, we ate delicious food, but best of all we hung out with each other experiencing life.
